  • Genix Dental Visit

    Fri 19 May 2023

We welcomed ‘Lola the molar’ from Genix Dental Practice to speak to the children about the importance of good oral hygiene and the importance of why we brush our teeth. The children engaged brilliantly with the workshop and learned that making sure you look after your baby teeth is just as important as your adult teeth and to drink water after having sugary foods and drinks to keep your mouth healthy. With the rising rates of child tooth decay naturally, please remember to book your appointments regularly with your dentist.

Last week, Rick Turton aka Professor Brainstorm visited the school to deliver a science themed assembly. He wowed all of us with his amazing experiments based around chemistry and physics. With some amazing assistance from some of the children and staff he demonstrated topics including electricity, noise, light and projectiles which I’m sure the children rushed home to tell you about!

  • Seahouses Fire & Rescue

    Fri 12 May 2023

Reception, Year 1 and 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London in history this half term and were very excited to welcome the local fire brigade to school last week. The crew came to show them the fire engine along with all the kit they use today compared to what they used back in 1666. They looked at their protective clothing and state of the art thermal imaging cameras but were most excited to have a go at squirting the hose and having a seat in the fire engine. Thank you to our local service personnel for taking the time to come to school.

    Fri 05 May 2023

The girls in Years 3 and 4 were invited by Barclays, with the help of some of the Duchess Community High School’s girls sports leaders, to attend a session dedicated to the importance of providing access to football prisons to girls of primary school age. Several schools from the local area attended the event where they worked on ball skills, fitness and flexibility and team building. They all had a wonderful time building their confidence and have been enjoying playing during school more as well.

  • Coronation Picnic

    Fri 05 May 2023

It was so nice to see so many of you at our the Coronation Picnic in celebration of King Charles III coronation. The individual ideas and crafting was outstanding - well done to our winners!

  • We're going QUACKERS for our new arrivals!

    Tue 02 May 2023

We have had an amazing time with our feathered friends over the last couple of weeks. From watching them hatch on day one, to them taking their first swim on day 9, the KS1 children have used the ducklings to help with their learning of lifecycles. All the children have all had the opportunity to hold and watch the ducklings play in their paddling pool.

We had a naming competition for the children and the winners name were: Jackie Chan, Twinkle. Fluff and Alfie. Well done to the winners.
