River Aln Geography field work Summer 2022

As part of our learning in Geography year 3/4 traced the river Aln from its source in the rural hills of Alnham. Onwards we then travelled to Alnwick where we took in the sights of the castle, comparing it to our  local castle - Bamburgh. The verdant pastures made the perfect spot for lunch. We then, of course, finished our visit in Alnmouth as we witnessed the river making its way to the North sea.

The children applied much of their classroom based knowledge out in the field using ordnance survey maps, compasses and satellite navigation devices such as GPS. They also created detailed field sketches and compared a range of different sites taking into consideration both physical and human geographical features.
