London Transition Trip - 2019
Last week five Northumberland Primary schools Shilbottle, Seahouses, Swarland, Hipsburn and Felton, met together for their annual school residential visit to London, the main purpose of this being to support pupils in their transition to the high school in the new academic year.
This visit was organised after a very successful initial visit last year at the request of parents and pupils alike. The pupils all met together on Wednesday to start their adventure which began with a coach journey to big city lights of London. This was followed by a visit to the science museum and the London eye. Other highlights of the visit were; the Maritime museum, a river cruise, Madame Tussauds, a theatre performance of Matilda. The adventure ended with a visit to Harry Potter World. All pupils had an amazing time and were a credit to their schools and their families. To strengthen their ties with their new found friendships, there will be another opportunity for the children to meet up again at a Plough for ‘Dinner and Mocktails’ just before they leave their primary schools.
All of the heads believe that this residential is very important especially when children are from small schools and most from small cohorts.
