  • Farm Visit

    Wed 29 Mar 2023

The children enjoyed their visit to Mrs Allen’s farm to see the new spring lambs. They were lucky to witness some lambs being born, which led to many interesting questions and they loved being able to hold and stroke the lambs.

  • Egg-cellent work!

    Thu 23 Mar 2023

As part of their Design and Technology unit, Making a Healthy Meal on a Budget, Years 5 and 6 have been very excited to make their omelette recipes. The children have explored the benefits of seasonal produce and have tasted and evaluated a variety of healthy ingredients. After designing their recipes, the young chefs cooked up their delicious omelettes, tasted them and evaluated their achievements. Well done chefs!

  • Come Dine and Read with Me - Year 4, 5 and 6

    Wed 22 Mar 2023

We welcomed parents to our Come Dine and Read with me for years 4, 5 and 6. It was great to deliver valuable information on how to support your child’s independent reading outside of school and to discuss the functions and logistics of our new online reading platform ‘Reading Plus’. Once again, Miss Hepple made a wonderful lunch for the children and parents to enjoy. They then enjoyed some time to spend reading in the library.

  • The Lion King - Sunderland Empire

    Thu 16 Mar 2023

What an evening we had! All of the children thoroughly enjoyed this once in a lifetime opportunity to see The Lion King on opening night at the Sunderland Empire. Myself and the staff members who accompanied the children were so pleased with their behaviour.

Although we live in a beautiful part of the world there are limitations on the opportunities available locally and we feel it is really important that children are offered as broad a range of experiences as possible.

  • International Math's Day

    Tue 14 Mar 2023

To celebrate International Maths Day (or as it is otherwise known, Pi Day - 3.14) the children participated in a range of games and activities, to encourage working in teams whilst learning about and recognising the importance of maths in our daily lives.

Well done to all of the children who took part in Ms Kelly's art competition inspired by the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch.

We were so impressed by their creativity!

  • World Book Day 2023

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

We celebrated World Book Day today. Wearing their pyjamas and slippers, the children enjoyed independent reading time, a story and a hot chocolate. The free 'World Book Day' books will add to the children's reading collection, with thanks to WH Smith's for distributing them to our school.

  • No Outsiders - Everybody Welcome

    Mon 13 Feb 2023

We were so privileged to welcome Andrew Moffat MBE into school to deliver workshops to all the children. Previously a Primary school teacher at Parkfield School in Birmingham, he is now the author of the book "No Outsiders, Everybody Welcome". It was fantastic to witness his innovative approach to inclusive education, promoting community cohesion to prepare young people and adults for life as global citizens.

Andrew said "No Outsiders enables us to teach about equality and diversity within a framework. The framework is that every child knows that they belong, and that’s the bottom line. You want every child to know that they belong in school. I want children to be proud of who they are. And I think all parents want that for their children. It’s an anti-bullying resource. No parent wants their child to be bullied."

  • Skipping Festival and Barter Books

    Thu 09 Feb 2023

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a trip to Alnwick this week to take part in a local skipping festival alongside other local schools. They were taught skipping techniques and tricks. They then enjoyed a trip to Barter Books after lunch and were able to choose a title to bring home from the wonderful range of children's books they offer using our school account. Donations made to our account are vital for allowing us to continue visiting Barter Books and contributing to the children's love for reading.

  • Chinese New Year

    Thu 02 Feb 2023

This year's Chinese New Year banquet went down a treat with the children. They enjoyed a range of traditional Chinese dishes and even a fortune cookie. A huge thankyou to Miss Hepple for her wonderful culinary skills and making the banquet authentic.
