Grace Baaling
Here at SPS, we have been part of two exciting projects.
The first being The Lidisfarne Gospel Pilgrims, who visited school with a replica of St Aidan's coffin and one of the gospels for the children to see. They retold the story of St Aidan and his importance of the birth of Christianity.
We were then part of an art project created by artist Deepa Mann-Kler. The flock 'Illuminated Sheep' have been and are inspired by the Gospels’ themes of light, sheep and pilgrimage.
A herd of life-size sheep lit up in bright colours flocked to Bamburgh Castle to launch a visual arts trail celebrating the homecoming of the Lindisfarne Gospels in the North East. Some of our children were lucky to be invited to Bamburgh Castle to see the exhibition before anyone else and we were so excited to have one of the sheep visit us in school for a few weeks. The children named her Grace Baa-ling.
Grace Baa-ling then took a trip with the Seahouses RNLI Lifeboat before she was returned to the flock for its exhibition.
