19.05.22 Bamburgh Trip

On Thursday 19th May 2022, we spent the day exploring Bamburgh. The children’s behaviour was exemplary and we received a number of compliments from members of the public saying how ‘smart’ and ‘well-behaved’ they were. They certainly did Seahouses Primary School proud!

We have previously learnt about Grace Darling as part of our History topic so we started our day off visiting the Grace Darling Museum.

There were lots of wonderful artefacts for us to explore, a lighthouse sculpture that lit up to show the different parts of the lighthouse, the coble, a video that retold the heroic actions of Grace Darling and a fantastic observation deck with amazing views of St Aiden's Church and The Farne Islands.

It was brilliant to see and hear the children recalling their previous learning of Grace Darling.

We then headed to St Aiden’s church to find the resting place of Grace Darling.

We then explored St Aiden’s church as we have been learning about churches at school. The children were amazing at identifying the different features of a church.

As the weather was so beautiful we stopped on the green for lunch with the breathtaking view of the castle.

After lunch we were really lucky to be given access to the grounds of Bamburgh castle. The children were so excited to be in the castle grounds and particularly loved the canons!

We had a good look around the castle before heading back to the coach.
