07.05.26 Identifying Birds In Our Locality
Reception, year 1 and year 2 took their science lesson out into their locality.
As part of the science curriculum children have to identify and name birds within their locality. It also links really well with our current art unit- making birds!
We were lucky enough to see different breeds of birds, some of which included, robins, herring gulls, black beaked gulls, wood pigeons and many more.
We also found some birds’ nests too!
Thank you to the staff at the North East National Trust down at the harbour for interacting with the children and getting some bird feed out to encourage the birds to get closer to us. They also provided the children with a pencil too which was very kind of them.
What a wonderful afternoon of learning within our locality.
Fun fact: There’s no such bird species as a Seagull!
