24.06.24 & 25.06.24 Outdoor Learning

Children in Years 3 and 4 took part in 2 days of outdoor learning with Hannah from OASES North East. We were learning about classifying living things in science. In our first fun filled session, we learned how to classify, use identification keys, the importance of trees and why they should be looked after. We then went on to explore vertebrates and invertebrates and found examples of each.

On our second morning we went to the beach where we created field sketches, taking into account distance and perspective. We applied our previous learning to using classification keys for coastal animals and also to finding different vertebrates and invertebrates in the rock pools.

We are so lucky to have such beautiful local areas  and to be able to enhance our learning with opportunities right on our doorstep!
