Outdoor Learning Geography
We learned how to use a compass outside in the yard. We used our compasses to help us to draw our own compass roses on the ground with chalk. We labelled them carefully with N, S, E and W. We had fun following instructions, using our compass rose to ensure that we moved in the correct direction!
We continued our learning inside by applying our new navigational skills in different contexts.
We used treasure maps to guide our 'pirate partners' to the treasure.
We also programmed the Blue Bots around different floor maps to reach a specific destination.
For both of these activities we used our compass points and directional language to navigate around a map.
