MFL the Seahouses Way 

To cultivate an enthusiasm for lifelong learning through a curriculum which reflects our rural and coastal context, adapting to the needs of our children- locally, nationally and globally.

At Seahouses Primary School, in Key Stage 2, we work to develop an interest in learning other languages in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating.  Through the application of the carefully sequenced ‘Language Angels’ scheme of work and resources we offer a relevant, broad, vibrant and ambitious foreign languages curriculum that inspires and excites our pupils using a wide variety of topics and themes. 

We aim to prepare all children to be educated, open minded world citizens and to develop an interest in and enthusiasm for learning other languages in a way that is sequential, skills based and stimulating. Through an aspirational and sequenced approach, we encourage children’s self-confidence and linguistic skills.

We strive to stimulate and encourage children’s curiosity to develop their awareness of world cultures and an awareness of the origins of our language and shared linguistic commonalities.   We embed the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing including the core grammatically concepts of the French language and lay the foundations for future language learning – we hope to inspire lifelong language learners.
