15.10.26 Cartooning Workshop

We absolutely loved the virtual workshop we took part in with Emma from Go Sketch. Emma led an interactive workshop in which pupils learned to draw cartoon characters using pencil and paper.

Go Sketch aims to develop young artists into self confident, imaginative and creative thinking adults of tomorrow.

Emma believes in teaching children that there is no such thing as 'good art' and 'bad art', only art we like and don't like. She also encourages the children to celebrate 'mistakes' as 'opportunities' within the creative process and that being creative makes us feel good, increases our self confidence and helps us think in different ways.

The workshop linked perfectly with our computing unit on 'Comic Creation' as it supported the children in developing ideas for their own digital comics and helped them consider how characters, settings and dialogue work together to communicate a story.
