27.04.26 Centre for Life
What a fantastic day Year 3 and 4 had at the Centre for Life in Newcastle!
We started our adventures in the Wow Zone, where we engaged with exciting exhibits, including the impressive 6-metre-tall ‘Big Machine’. Next, we explored the Lightbox, where hands-on science exhibitions brought light, colour, sound, and water phenomena to life! The Brain Zone challenged us with memory games and optical illusions, while the Space Zone and Planetarium Show inspired awe with the wonders of the Universe and the impact of space exploration on our daily lives. We loved exploring the Dino Den, which is home to the largest collection of moving dinosaurs in the North.

Finally, we finished our day with a fascinating ‘Lighting up the Future’ workshop. We learned how to build electrical circuits that linked power sources to switches, sensors and lights. We explored how switches and sensors are used to control electronic devices and how scientists and engineers are developing more environmentally friendly ways to generate electricity and to light our streets. Did you know Newcastle was one of the first cities in the world to have electric streetlights?
We enjoyed a whirlwind of activities that sparked our curiosity and imagination. What an inspiring day of discovery!
