March 2026 BE YOU Sleep Hygiene workshop
BE YOU - Sleep Hygiene Workshop
Years 3–6 recently took part in a sleep hygiene workshop, focusing on rest and how it is essential for their development. The session highlighted the importance of sleep for their bodies, mood, and learning and how this "nightly maintenance" allows the brain to store memories while the body repairs itself.
The students explored simple routines that support good sleep habits, such as keeping a consistent bedtime to regulate their internal clocks. There were discussions around how screens, routines, and relaxation affect sleep, specifically noting that while screens emit blue light that keeps the brain awake, relaxation techniques can help the body wind down.
Although many factors can disrupt rest, the workshop provided strategies they can use independently at home, empowering them to take charge of their own sleep environment so that they wake up feeling refreshed and ready to learn.
