  • Another busy week!

    Fri 31 Mar 2017

At Seahouses Primary, we love telling stories. This week we retold the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, demonstrating our acting talent. We also shared the prequels, sequels and the innovated versions of the 'Dream Giver' story that we have written.

Ruby, Ava and Sadie are very excited to publish their 'A Day in the Life of Class 3 4' I hear that the final touches are nearly finished and this should be ready to read from Monday! This includes an exciting morning learning about electricity from local electrician Alan Macfarlane and a busy afternoon making rocket fuel.

  • Comic Relief and Mothers Day Assembly

    Fri 24 Mar 2017
Life is never dull at Seahouses Primary School. The children came into school wearing something funny to help to raise funds for Comic Relief. The school council did an amazing job arranging a cake sale - we would like to thank the parents for their generous donations, so far we have raised £100 with more to come on Monday! Although we had lots of fun and ate lots of cake, we also learnt about some of the issues facing other young children across the world and how the money we raise is used to help these children. We ended the day with a Mother's Day assembly where we shared our special messages and sang lots of fun songs.
  • Art with Mick Oxley

    Fri 17 Mar 2017

We were extremely privileged this afternoon to have local artist Mick Oxley join our art club. It was lovely to see the year 5 children so engrossed watching Mick demonstrate the techniques he uses to create his designs. We would like to thank Mr Waddell for organising this fantastic opportunity and thank Mick for giving up his time.

  • Seahouses STEM afternoon

    Thu 16 Mar 2017

We had a really exciting afternoon at Seahouses today. To celebrate British Science Week 2017 we had a afternoon filled with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

    Class 2

In year 1 and 2 we carried out an experiment to find out which materials created the most CO2 to inflate a balloon. We then put all our materials together to create a volcanic eruption.

    Class 3

In year 3 and 4 we had an interesting afternoon with spaghetti and marshmallows. We were given an engineering design brief and working in small groups we had to make a crazy construction using only spaghetti and marshmallows. The product had to be taller than 50cm, cost less than £2.99 and stand unaided.

    Class 4

In year 5 we investigated how we could determine if an egg was raw without cracking it. The egg spinning fastest was raw. In our second investigation of the afternoon we discovered that static electricity from a balloon changes the direction of the flow of milk.

"STEM subjects are valuable not only because they can lead to exciting, rewarding career options, but also because they enable individuals to be active citizens in an increasingly technological society" (STEM Learning, 2017)

  • Maths Skills Session

    Wed 08 Mar 2017
Parents were invited into school to take part in a range of maths activities. Following feedback from parents, we focused on new strategies to identify place value. In addition to this, Lindisfarne class chose to showcase a wide range of timestable games who knew fly swatters could be used to support maths learning? Pupil voice tells us that the children love having parents in class so keep an eye out for the next session!
  • World Book Day 2017

    Fri 03 Mar 2017

Today we had an exciting day celebrating World Book Day. We celebrated with  an impressive array of costumes. It is an amazing sight to see when children bring their favourite book characters to life. All of the children wrote a book review to promote their favourite reads. We have lots of book worms at Seahouses Primary School. We are always encouraging the children to Read Read Read!
