Year 6 SATS Complete!
Mon 20 May 2019The Year 6 children at Seahouses Primary School breathed a sigh of relief as they completed their final SAT exam on Thursday 16th May. Mum of Seahouses Primary School pupil, approached the local Coop store in Seahouses to inform them of the children’s efforts and determination over the weeks leading up to the SATS exams. Without hesitation, the Coop generously donated ice-cream cornets, packets of sweets and drinks for each child as a way to help the children relax and celebrate all their hard work and persistence. The children enjoyed their well- deserved treats in the sunshine.

Excitement was in the air this morning as preparations took place, everyone had sausage or bacon sandwiches to ensure that their brains were well powered for their busy morning.

Authour and Illustrator - Liz Million
Fri 15 Feb 2019We were very lucky to have author and illustrator Liz Million visit us at Seahouses.
Liz conducted workshops with each year group where together they created hilarious, imaginative stories and illustrations. We were all so amazed by Liz's artistic talent as well as her incredibly funny and imaginative storytelling.
Liz was able to design her workshops based on current topics we are focusing on in school. Reception and Year 1 had fun creating their own dinosaurs and Years 2 and 3 were able to combine their plastic pollution topic and create some imaginative sea creatures who in their story were unfortunately affected by the impact of plastic pollution. Carrying on with the theme of 'drastic plastic' years 4, 5 and 6 created and developed characters that were able to help with the fight against plastic pollution.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Liz for sharing her wonderful talent and hard work with us, we all thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Take a look at Liz's website where you can find out a little more about her and get your hands on some incredible illustrations in her colouring section!

A Busy Day at Seahouses!
Tue 05 Feb 2019We have had an extremely busy day in Seahouses today. Our morning started off with a visit from the Durham music society who came in and told a story about St Cuthbert in the form of a mini musical. The music society surprised us by bringing along a small orchestra that played the music live and collaboratively. It was a very inspiring session.
After lunch we had a visitor called Sophie from the company Daisy First Aid who came into teach us all about dealing with accidents and emergencies. It was a great experience for us all and we now have the skills to save a life, treat the most common injuries and emergencies.
We would like to say a big thank you to our special visitors we have all had an amazing day.

The Debate: Should plastic be banned?
Wed 30 Jan 2019The Debate: Should plastic be banned?
Over the past two weeks, Year 5 and 6 have developed their knowledge and understanding of plastic pollution and the detrimental impact it is having on our environment. Their research revealed that there are arguments both for and against banning plastic. The children are so passionate about this environmental issue that they decided to perform a balanced debate to discuss each side of the argument in depth.
Children developed such a thought- provoking argument that hopefully will influence and encourage listeners to make positive changes in their own lives.

Assembly with Dan Smith (Paddle of Britain)
Sun 13 Jan 2019We had a very special visitor back in school this week, Dan Smith. We have known Dan at Seahouses Primary for quite some time now and have recently been following his challenge to Kayak the full length of Britain in the hope of raising £25,000 for the 'The Royal British Legion'.
Dan is now back and has been successful in his challenge, he managed to complete the paddle in 53 days, 1 week quicker than the target he set himself and he is well on his way to raising over the £25,000 he hoped to achieve.
During the challenge the children at Seahouses recognised that Dan was showing strong links to our school values. we asked if Dan could come into school so we could kindly pick his brain and discover how he felt about his success and achievement, how he persevered through challenges, how he maintained enthusiasm and of course share some stories from along the way.
The children were bursting with questions and thoroughly enjoyed seeing pictures and watching video clips that Dan had taken on his journey. Dan was also kind enough to pick his Kayak up once again and bring it into school to share all of its battle wounds.
We would like to say a huge congratulations to Dan, we are all extremely proud of you and what you have achieved. It is truly inspiring, thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Christmas - 2018
Sun 13 Jan 2019We had a busy end to last term with a number of local performances for our school choir, our annual Christmas fayre and of course our Christmas production of 'Straw and Order'. We would like to thank everyone for their help and support over the last few weeks. We raised over £1,600 during this time thanks to your generosity.
Take a look at one of the brilliant musical numbers from 'Straw and Order'. As always the children worked extremely hard battling the winter sickness bug, learning their lines and practising songs and choreography. They all surpassed our expectations and blew us all away.
