Year 5 - Our Land, Our Sea and Our Sky Art Project
Fri 05 May 2017We are so lucky to have our local artists, Elaine and Heather, visit our school every week. Take a look at the amazing artwork our Y5 children have produced. We will obviously be taking this wonderful art work to display in our new school!

A Roman Centurion and Spartan Warrior Takeover!
Wed 03 May 2017Today we were welcomed into school by Maximus a Roman Centurion and Spartan Warrior. Maximus taught us about the Romans and the Greeks and trained us to battle like the Romans and the Greeks would have done many years ago! It was great fun and a fantastic start to the key stage 2 summer topics.
"I really enjoyed today because Maximus came in and told us about the Romans lives and punishments." (Dean - Year 4)
"I really liked the part when we got to do the training and learn the commands. I loved when we did the tortoise, we had 3 people in the front and everyone else behind with the shields above their heads. Everyone then had to move forward and try and stop the teachers hitting us with balls - I got hit in the eye! (Daniel - Year 4)
" I enjoyed playing the Roman game with the beanbags, I loved when you hit the X and got 10 points that the rest of the team had to shout JUPITER!" (Ben - Year 3)
" I enjoyed the part where we got to hold the swords because I have never held a real sword before. I also enjoyed being outside and showing our parents and class 2 the parade!" (Cara - Year 4)

A Visit from the School Health Team.
Fri 28 Apr 2017We had a visit from the School Health Team today who came to deliver an information session to the year 5 children based on the issues surrounding puberty. The sessions were delivered separately boy/girl. The children were given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss things brought up in the session.

Daft as a Brush
Tue 25 Apr 2017Today we were visited by local charity 'Daft as a Brush'. At Seahouses Primary School we sponsor an ambulance which transports cancer patients to and from hospital. We are so proud to support this charity and we were one of the first schools to adopt an ambulance over 6 years ago. The charity has gone from strength to strength and they now have 22 ambulances and are waiting for 3 more. Take a look at our ambulance and see how it represents our community.

Early Years Rosie's Farm Visit
Tue 25 Apr 2017Early Years spent the day visiting Newham Farm. The children enjoyed exploring the farm environment and they spent time gathering information about animals and their families to enhance and develop our knowledge and understanding of the world area back in class. We recorded information using I Pads and on paper.
The children enjoyed a break where they raced on the open fields followed by a well deserved lunch and snack in the farm house.
“We learned about animals becoming mums. I noticed the lambs wouldn’t come for a stroke if they were with their mums. I think the mare wanted to keep them safe and make sure they were not going to get hurt."
“We don’t feed the lams straw as they may get sick!”
“Cows are also called cattle!”
“A cow can have one baby per year. There were three cows, so that will be three babies!”
“We fed the cows hay, straw and muesli with minerals.”

Easter Assembly
Fri 07 Apr 2017We had a lovely Easter Singing Assembly with Canon Judy this afternoon. We went to the church to sing songs and learn about the Easter Story.

Maths Homework Projects
Wed 05 Apr 2017We had a fun maths afternoon today admiring everyone's hard work from this terms homework project. We spent the afternoon challenging our friends and testing out each others games. What a lovely way to learn! Thank you for everyone's time and effort.

A Day in the Lives of Year 3/4 by Ruby, Ava and Sadie.
Mon 03 Apr 2017A Day in the Life of Three Children in Seahouses Primary School

This morning we came into class all eager and excited to learn. When we first got into class we had to get our morning starter books out and we had to make up questions to ask Alan, the local electrician (Emily’s dad!) who was coming into tell us all about electricity. Ruby’s dad was too scared to come in and face us all.
When Alan arrived he brought us all electrical things to pass around the table, things like plugs, sockets, wires and lots more. We asked Alan our questions and he was able to answer them all and give us lots of information. Alan told us that we need to be careful when changing light bulbs. We need to make sure that the light switch is off. Emily told us that it is important because one day her dad was fixing the light in her house and her mam turned on the light and he got an electric shock!
After this we went outside for our break time before our next lesson began. Wednesdays are a little bit different to the rest of the week because Ron comes in to teach us how to play the trumpets. We all love playing the trumpets so much because we love playing instruments and it helps us become musicians. We split into groups when we play the trumpets and half of us go and do handwriting practice with Miss Angus. We enjoy handwriting because it makes the presentation of our work neater so that we can achieve our pen licences.
Just before lunch we had a quick RE session where we learnt about the Easter story.
Lunch time is good because we get to eat food… Ruby thinks it is the best because we get the best puddings. Ava thinks it’s the best because we enjoy playing with all the equipment on the school field.
After lunch we had a busy afternoon. We joined Miss Cole’s year 5 class to learn about capacity. We had to make rocket fuel by following the measurements we were given.

Mystery Liquid 10ml + 0.5ml +85ml
Ruby and Ava called there mystery liquid ‘Pink Fluffy Unicorns’ we had a great time and we all had a laugh when we came into the hall and saw all the fuel.
