• Remembrance

  This week we were so proud to be visited by Mr Alf Vickers. We had the chance to here about his experiences in the army. We couldn’t believe he joined when he was 15 years old! He talked about the sacrifices made not just by the Armed Forces of the past, but by today’s generation too. He also told us the story of the poppy. He was really proud when he saw or hand- made poppies created by our craft club, with the help of our local craft ladies. We raised £117 to support the British Legion in  raising vital funds to help the Armed Forces community.

  

• Health and wellbeing week

  This week we have been extremely busy celebrating health and well-being week at Seahouses.

   

  On Tuesday we were extremely fortunate to have Northern Bootcamp visit us, they put us all through our paces in true boot camp style. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. 

   

  On Tuesday afternoon our learning was further extended within school as we got to spend time with all the different class teachers. Miss Armstrong was tiring us all out again in the hall with a keep fit session, we also learned about blood pressure and our pulse! Miss Cole was introducing us to healthy eating; we were able to design our very own healthy lunch boxes. We did experiments with Mrs Keenan to allow us to see what effect drinks have on our teeth. Lastly we had a mindfulness session with Miss Wood. We talked about feelings and emotions through colour and we had reflection time where we discussed the importance of sleep and rest for our bodies.

   

  Class 2’s health and wellbeing week continued on Wednesday afternoon with a visit to Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre. They took part in Active Northumberland’s Multi skills afternoon. They had a brilliant time  taking part in new sporting activities.

   

  We would like to say a big thank you to Dan and Caroline Smith from Northern Bootcamp for our fantastic Bootcamp session, and to Paul and everyone at Active Northumberland for our afternoon in Alnwick on Wednesday. 

  

• Head Boy and Head Girl

  Interviews were held on Tuesday 8th November for this year's Head Boy and Head Girl. All candidates displayed excellent attributes and it's wonderful to know how enthusiastic our children are to promote our school.

   

  The experience provided children with the opportunity to develop their interview skills for the future. 

   

  Well done to Jacob Giacopazzi and Olivia Wright for participating on the interview panel. 

   

  The successful candidates will be announced later this week.  

• Strange goings on at Seahouses Primary...

  On Monday night Seahouses Primary school was overtaken by some strange looking people! We all had a spooktacular night. Can you recognise anyone? 

  

• Maths and Munch

  Our 'Maths and Munch' days are going really well in school. The children are thoroughly enjoying having their parents in to come and eat lunch and share some of the activities they do during maths lessons.

   

  Parents have commented on how enjoyable they find coming into school and witnessing how maths is taught in lessons. Parents have also commented on how creative the resources are that are used to support children's learning. 

   

  "I hope mam's and dad's really enjoy coming for lunch at school because I like it!" (Jayden - Year 1)

   

  "It's so different from how we were taught at school. It really helps to see how we can help at home".

   

  "I love 'Maths and Munch' because I learn new things. I like having my dad with me because he is always funny and I like having lunch with him." (Gracie - Year 1) 

   

  "I like missing break to come and do maths with parents because I love maths!" (Jayden - Year 2) 

   

   

   

  

• Poetry Day

  The children worked really hard writing and practising their own poems this week at school for a final performance in front of family members on Friday. Everyone did an amazing job, everyone was really impressed. 

   

   

  

• Year 5 River Fieldwork

  The year 5 children have been learning about the local rivers in Northumberland.  They recently conducted a river study by tracking the River Aln downstream observing its physical and environmental changes as it flowed form source to mouth. It was a great opportunity for them to develop their geographical skills.

   

  " I really liked the trip, we had to do a lot of work before going; like map reading, compass reading and we had to learn about coordinates."

  "We have never learned anything like this before, and we have never been on a trip like that before, It was really fun! I really liked taking part in the risk assessment we learned that there are lots of dangers around.  (Olivia - Year 5) 

  

• A visit from the Osiligi Maasai Warriors

• Air Ambulance Service

  The head boy and head girl handed over our collection of old school uniforms for the Air Ambulance Service. We had over 20 bags! - A big thank you goes to Miss Patterson who organised this great event for the charity.  

  

• Dahlicious Day

  What an amazing start to the Autumn term. Our Dahlicious day was a huge success and the children loved having their parents join them in their new classrooms.
