February Children's Mental Health Week

This week marks Children’s Mental Health Week 2026. This year’s theme is “This is My Place.”

We participated in a live online assembly led by Picture News, featuring special guest Katie Hopper, a children’s author and mental well-being advocate. During this live session, Katie shared one of her stories, prompting thoughtful discussions about the importance of inclusion. The assembly provided an opportunity for students to reflect on their own words and actions, considering how they can contribute to making others feel welcome and supported.

We thought about different places we belong and remembered that we belong wherever we feel valued and accepted for who we are. Feeling connected to others is essential for our mental health and well being.

We created a personal map, which included places, groups and activities where we feel we belong.

As we celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week, it is vital to remember that mental health is an ongoing journey that we discuss throughout the year, not just in one week. Encouraging children to express their feelings, seek support, and engage in activities that promote well-being is essential. We hope that the lessons learned this week will empower the children to take an active role in caring for their mental health and supporting their peers.
