Champions of Antarctica
In Class 3, the children participated in a once-in-a-lifetime live broadcast from Antarctica, featuring the inspiring Robert Swan OBE and Jenny Cooke, co-founder of the ‘2041 School’ charity.
‘2041 School’ wants young children to understand the need, and the desire, to protect one of the last great remaining wildernesses on Earth. It aims to make them ‘Champions of Antarctica’. Streaming 600 miles from the South Pole, Rob shared captivating stories from the icy landscape, highlighting the critical importance of protecting our planet’s frozen continent. His passion for conservation truly inspired our young learners to become Champions of Antarctica, encouraging them to understand the need and desire to safeguard this remarkable environment.
In addition to this exciting event, we seized the chance to recall and reinforce key geography learning. The broadcast provided a perfect platform for recalling our studies on continents, oceans, and the fascinating features of the polar desert biome. The children were eager to connect their classroom knowledge with real-world experiences, making the learning even more meaningful.
We are nurturing a generation that cares deeply about our planet and its future and championing the cause of protecting our beautiful Earth.
