27.03.26 Sleep Hygiene Workshop
We took part in a sleep hygiene workshop, focusing on rest and how it is essential for our development. The session was led by Melanie from Be You and highlighted the importance of sleep for our bodies, mood and learning and how this "nightly maintenance" allows the brain to store memories while the body repairs itself.
We explored simple routines that support good sleep habits, such as keeping a consistent bedtime to regulate our internal clocks. We had discussions around how screens, routines, and relaxation affect sleep, specifically noting that while screens emit blue light that keeps the brain awake, relaxation techniques can help the body wind down.
Although many factors can disrupt rest, the workshop provided us with strategies that we can use independently at home, empowering us to take charge of our own sleep environment so that we wake up feeling refreshed and ready to learn.
