24.02.26 Police Visit
This week, we were delighted to welcome Darren and Ellie from Northumbria Police to our school assembly. They shared fascinating insights into their careers on the force and explained the different qualifications and pathways required to join the police today. From the day-to-day variety of the job to the importance of community service, their stories truly inspired many of our pupils to think about their own future career goals.
Following the initial career talk, Darren and Ellie held a more in-depth session with our older children focusing on anti-social behaviour and the law. One of the key takeaways that surprised many was the legal definition of assault. The officers explained that even if no physical contact is made, threatening to hurt someone can still be classified as an assault in the eyes of the law. This led to a brilliant Q&A session, with our children asking thoughtful questions about responsibility, consequences, and community safety.
