05.03.26 World Book Day

On World Book Day 2026, we celebrated reading for pleasure in all its forms. Books can connect us. They help us understand ourselves, explore new worlds, and strengthen our sense of belonging. We believe that books do more than entertain, they help us to recognise our emotions, understand others, and feel part of something bigger.

Our whole school came together in the hall to celebrate World Book Day! The children arrived in their pyjamas and comfy clothes, snuggled up with their favourite blankets. We shared stories and enjoyed the magic of reading together. Older students took on the role of storytellers, entertaining younger ones with captivating tales. It was wonderful to see the smiles and hear the laughter as we bonded over books, fostering a love for reading that we hope will last a lifetime.

We took part in an online workshop with  author and illustrator, Rob Bidolph! Together, we dove into the world of creativity, crafting amazing characters, including some delightfully comical cupcakes. In addition to our character creations, we also made origami bookmarks, perfect for keeping our place in our favourite books.

We also embraced the DEAR initiative—Drop Everything And Read! As soon as Mrs Todd blew the whistle, we raced to our stations to pick a book from the display. This exciting game allowed us to discover new fiction and non-fiction titles we had never encountered before. It was a wonderful way to ignite our passion for reading!
