    We are famous engineers!

Year 5 and 6 children were challenged to design and construct architectural models of buildings to sit on the footprint of an A4 card, to develop a 'smarter, kinder, safer' way of living. Together they developed ideas for the connected city and considered how to use technology and the internet of things to improve how we will live, work and play in the future. Materials used to build project models were all recycled or created using digital software. Seahouses Primary achieved a high level of success and received a special mention.

  • Chinese New Year 2021

    Fri 12 Feb 2021

We had a busy last day of term celebrating Chinese New Year. We had a lot of fun learning about Chinese culture, traditions and the Zodiac animals. We even made our own Chinese feast and tried using chopsticks! We have loved sharing in this celebration and have produced some fantastic work in school and at home.

From the 1st to the 7th of February it was Children’s Mental Health Week. The theme of this week was ‘Express Yourself’

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.” (Place2be – Mental Health)

With this in mind, all children both in school and at home were encouraged to participate in ‘No screen Wednesday’. This allowed them to take part in a wide range of pursuits that would help them to recognise activities that make them feel good both mentally and physically. From cooking, to dancing, getting out and about in the great outdoors and listening to music. On Friday we took on the theme of, ‘Express Yourself’ and we asked all children to dress in the clothes that they felt best express their own individuality and identity.

Come rain or shine nothing stops the staff visiting the younger children who are learning remotely at home. We love hearing about and seeing the things everyone is getting up to during these unusual times. This week we have been thrilled to receive a whole host of snow fun pictures from our remote learners. In school we have also been making some snowy memories, getting creative and having fun!

Unfortunately, this week here in school we have been experiencing some technical difficulties with our Wi-Fi. We are happy to report that things are now back up and running but we wanted to say how proud we are of our committed remote learners who carried on regardless during this time.

The whole school community have been busy immersing themselves in their new way of working from baking sausage rolls and pizzas to conducting science experiments. Everybody, including our home schoolers, have been working so hard and we are so proud of you all!

Some of our older key worker children were set the challenge of building our new classroom library shelves. They experienced ‘real  life’ DIY skills! This will help keep us safe and enable us to continue to access our library at this time.

In other news, we have been sent a message from our school dog Finn. He has been attending puppy training classes. Take a look at Finn’s message in 'Seahouses Videos' if you haven’t managed to catch it yet.

The first remote learning ‘Lets Love video’ will be available today. We have received some lovely videos and photographs of those children at home.  If you have not managed to send in your videos yet, please send them in to your class teachers and we will update the video next week.  Even though we are not together in person, its activities such as these that we can join in as a school community. We will send you the link!
