  • Mudlarks - Year 6 2019

    Fri 28 Jun 2019

Year 6 children had lots of fun exploring the beach yesterday with other year 6 students from Belford Primary School. The children took part in team building exercises including den building and treasure hunting. The day was planned to help further introduce both groups of children for their transition to high school.

We would like to thank Helen and Bridie from Mudlarks for organsing this lovely day.

Take a look at some extra pictures in Year 6 class pages.

  • Musical Roots - Alnwick Gardens 2019

    Wed 26 Jun 2019

Class 2 had a fantastic afternoon in Alnwick Gardens yesterday afternoon celebrating the musical talent of children across Northumberland. This year class 2 have been learning to play samba rhythms on the drums with Steve from 'Music Partnership North'. The children have made fantastic progress this year and were able to show off their new drumming skills by performing their very own version of 'The Greatest Show' from 'The Greatest Showman' with our very own special guest Ethan from Year 6!

We would like to say a big thank you to the Alnwick Gardens and Music Partnership North who planned this inspiring event!

  • Mega Machines

    Thu 13 Jun 2019

Year 5/ 6 children unravelled forces fact from fiction when Centre for Life visited Seahouses Primary School on Thursday 13th June. Pupils participated in a range of mathematical challenges and enthralling scientific experiments putting their knowledge and enquiry skills to the test, using exciting resources and equipment. The mind-blowing ‘Mega Machines’ workshop was the highlight of the day. The children explored the effect of mechanisms and applied knowledge gained from earlier investigations to build a marvellous chain reaction machine culminating in an adult receiving a custard pie to the face!

  • Year 6 High School Transition

    Wed 12 Jun 2019

  • Robotic Programming at Seahouses

    Tue 11 Jun 2019

On Monday 11th June Year 5 students from Seahouses visited the DCHS to take part in a wide range of exciting and interactive science and robotic programming activities!

Working in partnership with high school pupils and staff the children first got to grips with a Harry Potter themed Chemistry session with Miss Hogg.  Self-inflating balloons, secret potions and exploding contraptions were all on the agenda. The children experienced learning in a state of the art laboratory and explored a wide range of resources and chemical materials. The best bit though, and a step apart from what they would usually be doing on a Monday morning – creating our very own growing, firing basilisk from a powdered basilisk skin (see video).

The next session focussed on coding, programming and robotics.  Mr Skinner of the high school was blown away by our children’s coding proficiency as they flew through all of his challenges and managed to code a range of robots to light up, move and collect items. We have some future robot wars finalists in our midst and Mr Skinner recognised that instantly! With many future jobs having not even been invented yet we remain committed to ensuring our pupils are at the forefront of modern learning and coding, programming, virtual reality and 3d printing is just some of the innovative curriculum areas we have on offer.

The children gained so much from the visit with 100% of them saying that they now felt less anxious about transitioning to the high school in the not so distant future. Most importantly, they also felt fully equipped to make the most of the wide range of learning opportunities on offer. We really are giving our children the best start at Seahouses Primary school. We could not be prouder of our students as they blaze a trail in all areas of the curriculum, out there in our wider community!

  • Year 6 - London Experience

    Tue 11 Jun 2019

Recently we, the year 6 students at Seahouses Primary went to our amazing capital city London. We had an amazing experience. The first location we visited was the National Science Museum, we really enjoyed the simulators. Afterwards we went for a meal at the Rainforest Café it was decorated amazingly, it was scrumptious. After that we went on the breath-taking London Eye, there was nothing we didn’t enjoy about this experience, we felt like we were going to fall in to the river Thames.

The next day we got on the bus to Madame Tussauds, when we got in we saw celebrity wax works it was incredible. In Madame Tussauds we bought some Mike and Ike candy and Mrs Swan loved them and tried to steal everyone’s! Following Madame Tussauds we went on a cruise along the Thames and then we stopped off at Pizza Express for some dinner. That night we went to see Matilda the Musical it was awesome. On our last day we went to Harry Potter World, this was probably one of the best bits of the whole trip. Before leaving to come home we had the choice to either go to KFC or McDonalds we all chose McDonalds.

We all would like to visit London again; some of us would possibly like to live in London for the rest of our lives!

We would like to thank everybody for your support with our attendance. It is currently standing at 97% which is above our target of 96%. As you know it is really important for your child to attend school to achieve their full potential. However we do know that children can become ill and therefore we have taken this into account and have rewarded the children who have 100% and 99% inclusive of medical appointments.
