RE Curriculum Intent
To cultivate an enthusiasm for lifelong learning through a curriculum which reflects our rural and coastal context, adapting to the needs of our children- locally, nationally and globally.
At Seahouses, our belief is that using an enquiry- based model develops children’s critical thinking skills as well as increasing their motivation to learn. Their knowledge and understanding of; positives attitudes towards; and empathy with people and their beliefs (religious or otherwise) will also be enhanced, which links to our ASPIRE curriculum. This approach takes very seriously the philosophy that children are free to make their own choices and decisions concerning religion and belief. RE does not try to persuade but rather to inform and develop the skills with which evaluation can take place. The curriculum is sequential, learning is revisited throughout the year groups.
