Maths at Seahouses Primary School
At Seahouses Primary School, we endeavour to provide the highest possible quality of mathematical education that meets the requirements specified in the National Curriculum. We aim to provide a high standard of mathematical education that will promote knowledge, skills and understanding at all levels to prepare children for the world around them.
We are committed to ensuring all of our work focuses on a teaching for mastery approach and have adopted the 'White Rose Maths Hub' approach to provide a curriculum plan that will support 'Teaching for Mastery'.
A significant amount of time is devoted to developing key number concepts each year. This ensures student build their fluency as number sense will affect their success in other areas of mathematics. Students who are successful with number are much more confident mathematicians.
Alongside these curriculum overviews our aim is also to provide a free assessment for each terms plan. Each assessment will be made up of two parts:
Part 1: Fluency based on arithmetic practice.
Part 2: Reasoning based questions.
