Geography Intent Statement
To cultivate an enthusiasm for lifelong learning through a curriculum which reflects our rural and coastal context, adapting to the needs of our children- locally, nationally and globally.
At Seahouses Primary School the aim of our Geography curriculum is to prepare children to be educated citizens and develop an interest in learning about the world around them. Geography inspires children with a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Through a planned and sequenced approach our Geography curriculum engages, inspires and challenges children. Opportunities for first hand geographical experiences are integral to the teaching of geography and help to make the learning relevant. Children are equipped with the knowledge and skills to ask and answer questions, explore differences and similarities and develop a rigorous understanding of the world around them. We encourage our pupils to reflect on their prior knowledge and experiences to apply their knowledge of the world around them so that they know more and remember more.
