Design Technology - Intent Statement
To cultivate an enthusiasm for lifelong learning through a curriculum which reflects our rural and coastal context, adapting to the needs of our children- locally, nationally and globally.
At Seahouses Primary, Design Technology encourages pupils to learn to think and intervene creatively to solve problems both as individuals and as members of a team. Children are taught to look for opportunities and to respond to them by developing a range of ideas and making a range of products. Design Technology at Seahouses Primary is linked to areas of learning, such as science, history, geography and maths to ensure meaningful and contextual learning where children can develop skills to design, make and evaluate products for a specific need or purpose. It involves children learning about the world we live in and developing a wide range of skills through designing and making. Pupils reflect on and evaluate present and past design and technology, its uses as well its effectiveness; and are encouraged to become innovators.
